Torchwood Season 3 will be here in the summer, according to the article. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the show, but a little gheyrotic British scifi on the telly is always welcome. And, it will tide me over until there's a full season of Doctor Who, which won't happen until 2010 (with the new guy - not sure how I feel about having a 26 year old as the Doctor, but I'll give it a go). There will be four 'specials' throughout the year, so all is not lost.

But - 5 episodes? That seems odd, if I'm reading the article correctly. Normally, a season is around 13 episodes or so.

edit: just found out that the five episodes are all part of a single story, so it's a kind of miniseries.

Oooohhhh, I just watched the trailer - blood, gore and smoochin'. Looks like my kinda thing! ;)

The mini-series sounds good. It's nice to have a plot that isn't wrapped up within 45 minutes. That's one of the things I haven't liked about Doctor Who, although at least it had linking themes.

I'm still kinda torn about the young Doctor...it feels slightly wrong that the Doctor will be younger than me. LOL

Creepy children always make for a good story ("Midwich Cuckoos", anyone?!)

I had a big John Wyndham phase when I was in my teens - read a ton of his books.

I liked the 1960s film version of Wyndham's book, "The Midwich Cuckoos" that they named "Village of the Damned", but the 1990s version with Christopher Reed and Kirstie Alley SUCKED!

Ahem.

I am not a horror movie guy at all, so my ability to rate such a film on it's "merits" is quite slim indeed.

BUT, I had heard that the remake blew goats.

I'd say it was more scifi than horror. The book is great - a nice little look at evolution, survival of the fittest - and what if we were not the top species on the planet and some 'cuckoos' were going to kick us out of the nest?

The 60s movie wasn't horrific at all. The 90s one was just kinda lame, but it was a little bit more gory than the original.

I see enough gore at work, you know?

Now, pop in a nice Europudding RomCom, and I am so there!
